Abide Building Component Systems (ABCS) is the constructor of high performance, high efficiency building envelopes.

Why smart? Because Abide Systems building diaphragms are engineered and built to “take care of themselves” – to think – and breathe – and keep themselves warm and cool… with or without human intervention or control.

Indeed, our buildings do seem almost like a life form. The builder’s electrician installs the nervous system, the plumber pieces together vital water & waste processing capabilities, we provide the skeleton, tissue, respiratory system and the “brain” (and inhabitants provide the heart).

How do we do this? Like building a life form from scratch, at Abide Systems we handle the engineering and installation of the foundation and frame (feet and skeleton), insulation (tissue), sheathing (skin), the passive and mechanical air handling (respiratory system), a multi-stage automated environmental and habitat control system with solar-powered backup (brain) and even some of the clothing (veneers, siding etc.). So, when humans aren’t around they can get by just fine on their own. How’s that?

 

Engineered Passive “Breathing”

ABCS building envelopes are designed to “breathe” efficiently on their own – without the assistance of mechanical systems. Of course, they also need a little nurturing (maintenance). Yet the cost of feeding them is a main focus here at Abide Systems, and we work hard to permanently minimize building utilities, operations and maintenance costs.

For building developers with perspicacity, the smartest new buildings even start off by paying-back their owners. With a NetPLUS system in the design, they won’t be paying any energy costs to operate the building. Quite the opposite; they’ll be rewarded by “selling” excess energy to utility companies. With their building hooked up to the local electricity provider, their monthly statements will reflect a credit instead of a charge.

 

What Is An Abide Systems Building Envelope?

Also called “diaphragms,” or “cores,” ABCS building envelopes include an insulated (ICF) foundation and our Posiframe™ air-sealed structure system. In addition we apply all air-barriers, waterproofing (not including roofing) and insulation in the entire structure, a Passivecore™ air-circulation system, all mechanical (HVAC) systems and environmental controls – contracted as a single turnkey package.

Why these building components? There’s an “economizing effect” associated with properly engineering and combining these trades. It allows us to provide a higher functioning building envelope for about the same or less than a builder could contract with separate subcontractors for a less sophisticated, “conventionally” built structure.

We want to make sure design professionals understand that their creative freedom isn’t diminished by one iota when we integrate our core systems into a project. Our systems are custom value-engineered for energy efficiency for every building type, regardless of the inner or outward appearance of the building. By taking advantage of our decades of experience in construction efficiency tactics, general engineering and building science, we can accomplish this feat for usually about the same – and often for less – than a builder pays for a conventionally designed and constructed building.

Saving Builders 80% of the Headaches

All contracts include a minimum 5 year warranty from the manufacturers on the mechanical systems, and a lifetime (transferable, of course) warranty on the insulation. We also include a 2 year maintenance and service program with every contract, and extended warranties, systems maintenance programs and warranty insurance are available for the entire term of your first mortgage.

Most construction-related or building maintenance claims would normally be concerning the systems we install. So, our client services team handles all callbacks as the builder’s Goodwill Ambassadors. We only contact the builder when an issue is beyond warranty limitations or our authorization to resolve. This alone saves our clients at least 80% of the headaches associated with construction-issue claims.

Residual Income

We offer value-added services, equipment and programming upgrades, extended warranty programs, and after-market products that return ongoing revenue in the form of royalties and commissions to the builder. This can add up to a significant amount of residual income over time.
